Strategies to Support Aging Virginians in their Communities

This bill directs  the  Department  for  Housing  and Community  Development  to expand the existing  Housing  and Supportive  Services  Interagency  Leadership  Team  (ILT)  initiative  to include  older  Virginians  as  a  target  subpopulation and seek input  from  appropriate stakeholders  to facilitate  the  development  of  strategies  for  increasing  the  supply  of  permanent supportive  housing  for  adults  65  years  of  age  or  older.

This budget amendment directs DARS to analyze and report on unmet need for aging services, and includes $250,000 in one-time funding for the analysis.

This bill requires the  Virginia  Health  Benefit  Exchange  to  prepare  an  annual  marketing plan that  includes  consumer  outreach, licensed health insurance  agents, and navigator programs.

This budget amendment directs DMAS to develop a nursing home quality improvement program, and provides $3.5 million the first year and $3.5 million the second year from the Civil Monetary Penalties Reinvestment Fund to implement the program.

This budget amendment provides $64,000 annually for LTC nursing scholarships to CNAs, LPNs, and RNs that agree to work in a Virginia long-term care facility after graduation.
